TEENS & YOUNG WOMEN'S CLASS INFORMATION - Grade 10 and up

We are currently developing more programs for High School Teens and Young Women. If you are interested in being part of a writing circle for Teens, please send your contact information and state your interest to Sami Schalk, who will keep you apprised of workshops or classes targeted specifically to young women.

Why Must Young Women Find Their Voices? In spite of perceptions that we are evolving as a society in support of young women's voices, there continues to be an expectation that young women "be nice," look good, and be smart in ways that support prevailing cultural standards. These expectations perpetuate codes of behavior in young women that then manifest dangerous covert ways of expressing anger as a response to repression.

Finding our voices and supporting our girls and young women in that journey helps make the invisible visible and strengthens all.

"...I'm kind of a shy, perfectionist kind of person, so I was nervous
at the beginning. But when I sat on the comfy pillow and
welcomed myself into the room, I was so happy I almost cried..."
